Ripon International Festival presents enchanting music to herald the approach of summer. The idyllic Pastoral symphony, with its bird calls, merry peasants, furious tempest, languid scene by the brook and poignant shepherd’s hymn resembles an instrumental opera in miniature” and contains some of the most exquisite of Beethoven’s music.

The sparkling talent of the young Russian violinist Alexandra Soumm and the charismatic Polish conductor Janusz Piotrowicz “supremely expressive .. alive to the music in every fibre” partnered with Classic FM’s orchestra in the North East ensure a memorable evening in the historic setting of Ripon Cathedral.
