Ripon By The Sea
Oh I do like to be beside the Sea-side!
The tide might be a long way out, but why not come along to Ripon's favourite event. Once again all the fun of the Sea Side will be coming to Ripon's Spa Park on Saturday 3rd September from 11.00am.
Last year some 3000 flocked to the Ripon by the Sea event and this year it promises to be much bigger and better.
The National Circus will once more be the feature event, Mr Bumbles the Clown as asked all the kiddies of Ripon to come down to see him, don't leave him on his own. Tickets are already on sale at the Knowledge Magnet in Kirkgate and the Tourist Information Centre, opposite the Cathedral. There will be three shows throughout the day, and tickets will also be available on the day.
Punch & Judy shows, a Special Sea-side Story Time Puppet Show featuring 'Humpty Dumpty' and 'Mr Scarecrow', together with Face Painting, Trampolines, Helter-Skelter, and the fabulous Fun-House will all ensure that fabulous sea-side atmosphere. There will be Bouncy Castles, Slides, Rides and of course what sea-side day out would be complete without the famous Donkey Rides.
Ripon Festivals who are staging this event will once more be providing a specially constructed beach with paddling pools of sea water.
With the event being a specially for Ripon, a number of local Charity stalls will be inviting your support, ensuring a fun filled day with the usual Tombolas, Wheel of Fortune and Craft sales. The Girl Guides will be helping with the Box Office and clearing up following the event, raising funds for their Mexican trip later in the year.
If you fancy a break from all the fun, you will be able to wander across the road into the wonderfully relaxing Spa Gardens where the Championship winning Ripon City Band will be performing some of their Competition winning tunes in the newly refurbished Band Stand between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.
There will be Hot Dogs, Candy Floss lots of noise and fun and organiser Don Grundy has promised a fine sunny day!!
So why not avoid all the traffic jams, car-sickness and "are we there yet Mum" moments. Just wander up to Spa Park for the fabulous "Ripon by the Sea".
