1My grandparents lived here for many years, and being able to get a picture to prompt my Grandma's memories is priceless, thank you.
2I Lived there too as a child when Mr Charls & Miss Agnes Oxley were in residence .I have so many wonderful memories of the house, gardens & all who lived there then but no photos
3Agnes and Charles Oxley were my great Uncle and Aunt. I often visited them when I was young. Uncle Charles died in 1959 Agnes moved to London. Their niece, Mary Arbuthnott inherited the house but sold it back to the church in the early 60s. so the date 1945 is quite wrong. I have just published a book, ADMIRAL OXLEY AND THE CHERUBS OF RIPON ISBN 9781788761758 or from FeedaRead.com. or independent bookstores (I hope!) It has lots of photos.. Love to hear from you. 4EliotI used to visit Uncle Charles and Aunt Agnes when I was young. I once spent Christmas at The Hall as it was then. I have written a book entitled Admiral Oxley and the Cherubs of Ripon. I would love to talk to any one who remembers them. Terry
5Is this 1 house or multiple apartments
6My great grandmother was Susan Watts ( nee Oxley) the elder sister of Admiral Oxley. I have a screen made out of picture scraps by I believe the children of Admiral Oxley when they lived in Minster House. One of the panels was destroyed and when I visited Minster House about 20 years ago I came across a trunk full of scraps which were clearly the left overs from the making of the screen. The church gave me some scraps to replace the missing panel and in exchange I gave them an old glass photo of Minster House.
I also have a family photo album belonging to Susan and started in 1870 which contains photos of the family, friends and houses of friends often with carte de visite attached. I also have a photo of Kate Oxley taken in 1959.
Like many others I also have details of the Oxley Royal Lineage which has been published before.
My mother used to say that her grandmother Susan who died in 1921 did not like to be called Granny but preferred to be called Aunt Susan.
