Tickets For Bonfire Night 2008 Will Soon Be On Sale
Friday 19 September
This year’s Ripon Bonfire Night on Friday 7th November promises to be one to remember and tickets will soon be on sale. The focus for this year’s event will be on the family with good discounts for advanced family tickets, to try to make sure lots of fun is had this year.
The difference this year is that there will be no Bonfire, which is due to the behaviour of a group of teenagers last year who were acting in a dangerous way close to the fire, breaking through the cordon and playing “chicken” close to the embers. There were also big concerns over the overall safety of the crowd as it was quite windy. The decision was made by the Ripon Gunpowder Plot who work extremely hard to organise the event each year collecting a huge amount of money for local charities. It is hoped that the bonfire will be back soon, but this year’s event will press on with a fantastic firework display as well as lots of entertainment for the family.
The event will be held at Hell Wath, and the evening will start at 6.15pm. You will be able to enjoy music from local talent, and food and drink will be available as well and a licensed bar. The firework display will begin at 7.30pm and promises to be a spectacular event. The main aim of the evening is to raise as much money for local charities as possible.
Here is a short video of some of the fireworks from last year.
