The Jewels Of Ripon Awards Nominations 2008

A new set of awards has been introduced by the Ripon City Partnership, to recognise the achievements of businesses and individuals in Ripon and surrounding areas. Nominations for the 8 categories are welcomed and need to be in by the 23rd September in time for the Awards Dinner on the 10th October.

The Jewels of Ripon Awards are aimed at,

“Recognising and celebrating Individual and Organisational Excellence and Best Practice within the Ripon and rural community”

There are 8 categories that you can nominate for and these are

• Business ( sponsored by Eura Audit UK). An individual or business who has demonstrated a significant achievement in the development of their business during the past year.

• Community ( sponsored by North Yorkshire County Council). An individual who has made a significant contribution to the local community.

• Culture ( sponsored by Harrogate Borough Council/Ripon Festivals). The organisation or individual who has made a significant contribution to cultural activities in the Ripon locality.

• Tradesman of the Year ( sponsored by Wolseley UK Ltd/Plumb Centre/Build Centre & Parts Centre). The Tradesman deemed to have demonstrated a significant achievement in the execution of their trade during the past year.

• Sports ( sponsored by F E Metcalfe & Co). An individual who has excelled in their sport during the past year.

• Tourism ( sponsored by Ripon Race Company Ltd) . The organisation that can demonstrate a significant contribution to improving the locality’s offering as a tourism destination over the past year.

• Environment ( sponsored by Ripon Land Rover & Ripon Farm Services Ltd). An individual or organisation that has made a significant contribution to protecting or improving the environment during the past year.

• Youth ( sponsored by Phillip Hall). The young person (up to 18 years of age) who has demonstrated a significant achievement during the past year.

There will then be an Overall Winner who will be announced on the night of the Awards Dinner.

So if there is an individual or business that you particularly feel deserves recognition for their hard work, effort or achievements then download the Nomination form and return it to the Ripon City Partnership (RCP), at the Town Hall by Tuesday 23rd September.

Tickets are also available for the Awards Dinner to be held at the Spa Hotel on Friday 10th October, by contacting the RCP. Tickets cost £40 each, with the opportunity to book a table of 8 for £250.
